Government Model Degree College, Daporijo, was established on February 29, 2012, with the vision of bringing higher education opportunities to the students of Upper Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh. The first academic session began the same year at a temporary site in Daporijo. Later, in January 2024, the college proudly shifted to its permanent campus at Reempu Yarlo, located about 14 kilometres from Daporijo Town, the district headquarters.
The college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh. At present, it offers six subjects under the Arts stream Economics, Education, English, Hindi, History and Political Science. To support higher learning and flexible study options, the college has a Distance Education Centre (IDE, RGU), allowing learners from different backgrounds to continue their education while balancing personal and professional responsibilities. The college also runs a National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, which actively engages students in community service, social awareness and nation-building activities, helping them develop leadership qualities and a sense of responsibility towards society.
The institution provides residential hostel facilities for both boys and girls, ensuring a safe, inclusive and supportive environment, especially for students coming from remote areas.
A team of dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff work tirelessly to deliver value-based and quality education, focusing not only on academic performance but also on the holistic development of every learner. The college continues to move forward with the goal of becoming a centre of higher learning that nurtures responsible, skilled and confident citizens, ready to contribute meaningfully to the society and the nation.
