The Department of political science,  Govt.Model Degree College Daporijo has been functioning since the inception of the College in 2012. The Department follow the academic syllabus prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi University from time to time. In the beginning years, the Department undertook the annual examination system (Non-CBCS), focusing on foundational concepts of political theory, Indian Government and Politics, International Relations. In 2015, College has adopted UGC's Choice Base Credit System (CBCS) academic guidelines. The CBCS was again replaced by NEP 2020 from the academic session 2023 -2024. With its continuous evolution from the Non-CBCS system to the NEP 2020 framework, the Department has emerged as a dynamic  academic unit committed in fostering critical inquiry, civic consciousness and inclusive education in tune with changing paradigms of higher education in India.
