The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Government Model Degree College, Daporijo aims to develop social responsibility, discipline and leadership qualities among students. It follows the motto “Not Me But You,” encouraging youth to work for the welfare of society.
The college has one NSS Unit with 30 active volunteers, guided by Mr. Binjay Nirin (Assistant Professor) under the guidance of the Principal. The NSS unit regularly conducts cleanliness drives, awareness programs, community service, and special camps in and around the college campus. These activities help students build teamwork, confidence and a sense of social commitment.
Through its various programs, the NSS Unit continues to inspire students to serve the community and contribute to nation building.
Over the years, the NSS Units have taken part in many programs and community projects both inside and outside the college campus. Some of the important activities include:
Disaster Management Training: Volunteers attended a practical session organized by the NDRF Team in the college auditorium to learn about disaster safety and first aid.
Mini Marathon (Red Ribbon Marathon): Organized on 24th August 2025 in collaboration with the NSS Unit of GMDC Daporijo under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society. The event aimed to promote awareness on health, fitness and HIV prevention among students and the local community.
General Social Service: Regular cleanliness and maintenance drives were conducted in and around the college campus.
Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign: NSS volunteers actively participated in the national cleanliness drive from 2nd October, spreading awareness about hygiene and waste management.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day): A meeting was held on 31st October to honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to promote unity and integrity among students.
