The library of Government Model Degree College, Daporijo has been working since the college started on 29th February 2012. It was set up to help students and teachers in their study and research work.
In the beginning, the library was kept in one classroom of the college building. With time, it has grown in size and collection to serve the needs of the college community.
There are two libraries functioning in the college campus:
This is the main library of the college. It serves all departments and students. The library has books from different subjects such as Economics, Education, History, English, Hindi and Political Science, along with Science and Commerce. At present, the General Library has a collection of about 5,000 books on various subjects related to the above Subjectes. Students can use textbooks, reference books, magazines and newspapers for both academic and general reading.
This is a special library managed by the Department of Hindi. It provides a rich collection of Hindi books, journals, novels, poetry, grammar and literary criticism to promote learning and research in Hindi language and literature. The Hindi Library maintains a separate and valuable collection focusing on Hindi language, literature, and culture, specially meant for the students and faculty of the Hindi Department.

Reference Section – Dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference materials.
Periodical Section – Journals, magazines and newspapers.
Technical Section – Work related to book arrangement and records.
Reprographic Section – Photocopy (Xerox) service for students.
North-East Cell – Books and materials about the North-Eastern region.
CERC (Competitive Examination Reference Cell) – Books and guides for competitive exams.
Hindi Literature Section – A special area within the Hindi Library for Hindi books, journals and research references.
The library has a well-furnished Reading Room that provides a quiet and comfortable environment for students and teachefs.teachers. It has adequate seating arrangements, proper lighting and good ventilation. Students can read textbooks, newspapers and megazines magazines or carry self- study in a peacful atmosphere. The reading room helps students to develop regular reading habits improves their concentration.
